Hi, my name is Scott Shaw, a musician and small studio owner in northern California.
In 1992 I wrote the manual "Build a Trigger Drumset For The Alesis D4" which was
reviewed in DRUM! magazine and sold internationally. At that time, the Alesis D4 was the
Big Dog of drum modules because it had trigger-to-MIDI converters built right in. 12 of 'em,
to be exact.
Back then, the problem was that purchasing triggers you could plug into those
converters cost an arm and a leg, and an entire electronic drumset would cost you a small
fortune. My manual was born out of the need to access those cool drum sounds like a
drummer, (by whacking something!) not from a keyboard, and not spend my life savings in
the process!

In it I offered detailed plans to build your own drum triggers from off-the-shelf parts at
your local hardware and electronics stores. It was a great success, and myself and hundreds
of other musicians built kits from my plans and played them for years.
Then came the onslaught of Cheap And Affordable Drum Triggers. Online retailers
and giant musicians catalogs began offering triggers and drumkits for a fraction of what they
cost in the late 80's and 90's. Many kits included the electronic "drum-brain" as well. All for a
few hundred dollars, instead of a few thousand dollars. I stopped printing my manual
because, well, even I could afford to go out and buy triggers.
But then a funny thing happened in 2005. Musicians began e-mailing me, asking
"Hey, any of those manuals left? I want to build something I can tweak myself, experiment
with, and make it look cool, not some generic plastic thing. Personalize it, ya know?"
The time was right to update and re-issue the manual. FOR FREE!

Why am I Giving This Manual Away As A FREE Download?
The reason I'm giving this manual away for free is because I'm trying to sell
didgeridoos. Huh? That's right Mate, Didgeridoos! Those long things you blow in and
make cool droning and rhythm sounds! My Dad and I handcraft these instruments here in N.
California, and sell them through our website www.QualityDidgeridoos.com which you are
about to be directed to for the free manual download.
The only thing I ask in return for the FREE Drum Trigger Manual Download is that you
check out the didge site and consider buying a didgeridoo. Why?
- Didgeridoos are essentially a rhythm instrument, and presumably you are a drummer or
percussionist. Why not add another instrument to your arsenal?
- Cool Factor. Imagine busting out a didge at your next jam or drum circle...Instant hit!
- Easy to play! Or at least not nearly so difficult as you've been led to believe. Each didge
comes with a free DVD giving you all the lessons you need to get up and running.
- Didgeridoos make excellent gifts! Got a person on your shopping list with eclectic tastes?
Or maybe hard to shop for because they already have everything? Bet they don't have a
didgeridoo!
So on your way to the FREE DOWNLOAD, Check out the awesome didges and picture
yourself playing one!
Once you've looked around the didge site, locate the Drum Trigger Manual button
